One year ago today Luke Stephen was born with angel wings. Although Luke's time here was very short he managed to touch a lot of lives including mine. I went to school with his mom, Laura, and she contacted me about doing maternity photos for her and her husband Vladi. It was my first maternity session and I was excited. Nothing could have prepared me for how much I enjoyed it....I got to witness and capture the love a new family, the love between husband and wife, the love between two parents and their unborn child. To this day I can still remember the feeling in the room during our session - so peaceful and so much love the walls were likely to burst from it all. Truly, it was magical. The next time I did photos for Luke's family was at his memorial service and it was another magical day, but for different reasons. I recently had another session with his family photographing his sister, Isabel. Isabel is a healthy, beautiful, rainbow baby who will always have her big brother watching over her, and quite possibly, the most loved baby in the world. :)
Luke helped me realize that this is what I'm supposed to be doing. He opened my eyes to not just taking a photograph, but creating memories, capturing moments, showing emotion, and making a difference. Laura, Vladi, Sue and Melissa, thank you for welcoming me into your lives. It truly is an honor.
Here are a some of the photos from Luke's maternity session and memorial.

Sweet Logan
Logan was the first newborn I photographed (back in February...yes, it's been THAT long since I've updated the blog) and he was so good. His family was so patient while I worked on positioning him and changed backgrounds. It was a wonderful learning experience and got me hooked on photographing newborns.
Sweet Sisters
The mommy of these sweet little girls answered a request I put on Facebook for a photo shoot and I was so happy to photograph them! As soon as I walked in the door of their home, the oldest made me feel right at home and we got along great. She cracked me up with her sweet little 3 year old talk, and her baby sister melted my heart with her blue eyes and red hair.
Pretty in Pink
Sweet Bella was a real trooper with all the position and prop changes. She's so precious and I was so excited to use the flower hat!
